Art
Art is vast, broad as it is long, [the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture] (Oxford). Generally art is thought of, and certainly for the purpose of this website, as a painting, be it Oil, Print or Watercolour, but not necessarily excluding drawings, sketches, posters or for that matter other visual arts such as design, sculpture or photography.
Artist's Resale Rights (ARR)
A European Directive introduced ARR in 2006 which applies to living artists and those who have died in the last seventy (70) years. Royalty is paid by the purchaser, by way of an auction, dealer or gallery, over and above the hammer / sale price if the sale exceeds 1,000.00 - see also: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/artists-resale-right
