Comics

Comics are a graphic medium integrated with text and/or other visuals structured in adjacent succession of drawn images, also known as a comic strip. Textual areas like speech balloons, captions and imitated (onomatopoeia) sound effects describing unfolding dialogue or other information.

The English term deriving from the humorous (or comic) work which dominated in early American newspaper comic strips; comics have had an uncultured reputation for much of its history, though began to find greater acceptance with the public and within academia towards the back end of the 20th century.
