Towards the end of the 19th century, prior to the Art Nouveau period (1890-1910), the Arts & Crafts movement 'ongoing' was invading Europe, its aim to revitalise and sustain the quality of design and craftsmanship arguably or potentially lost at a time or consequence of mass production, a negative reaction to industry if you like, lead by William Morris (d. 1896).
